How I Spent My Summer: Part 1

It has been a VERY PRODUCTIVE summer! I have been a busy bee creating web sites, all while keeping my kids entertained. I have occasionally felt like this guy:

But for the most part I was able to keep all the bricks on my head.

I wanted to share what all I have been working on during these long hot summer months!

Today: writers!

I had the good fortune to work with 3 writers/authors this summer. Although they share a profession, I don’t think they could be more different, and their web sites reflect that.

Varian Johnson

Varian Johnson is an author of Young Adult literature. He has a new book coming out March of 2010, and wanted a new site to go with it. He wanted something very clean and sophisticated. I installed a content management system for him so that he can update his own content, and redesigned his existing blogspot blog, too!

Margaret Benedict

Margaret Benedict is a teacher and the author of a biography about Mr. Joyce Clyde Hall, founder of Hallmark Cards, Inc. She needed a web site to provide more information about the book with a shopping cart to facilitate purchasing. She also wanted a forum to eventually provide a place for edcators to discuss the book and other topics of interest. This web site was created in WordPress, allowing her to edit her own site content and blog. The forum was created with bbpress, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with her WordPress site.

Mary Parker

Mary Parker

Mary Parker is a freelance writer and photographer who needed an easy way to show editors her previous work. We used a nature photo taken by her husband, Jeff Parker, to feature throughout the site. I installed a content management system so that she can continue to add new clippings as they are available.

It was great fun to work with these creative people, and I look forward to adding more authors to my portfolio!

Tomorrow: More WordPress sites, my favorite!
