The final four of 2014! If you missed them, here are Parts One and Two.
Nikki Loftin

Nikki Loftin is a Texas-based author of three novels: The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy, where the students begin to wonder just what exactly they are being fattened up for; Nightingale’s Nest, the story of a boy who finds a magical girl with the gift of healing in her beautiful voice; and the upcoming Wish Girl, a story of magic, wishes, and the power of true friendship. We were extremely fortunate to be able to use some of her book cover artwork from Tsuji Megumi to use as the base of the design, which, combined with some fanciful fonts and bright colors, made for a magical site to feature her magical books.
Jean Reidy

Jean Reidy is the Colorado-based author of 6 adorable picture books for children, including the “Too” series: Too Pickley!, Too Princessey!, and Too Purpley!; as well as Time Out for Monsters and Light Up the Night, both winners of the Colorado Book Award. Her latest book, All Through My Town, is a fabulous Pre-K wonderland, and winner of the Dutch Silver Pencil Award! The keyword for this site is FUN – lots of color, polka dots, and … turtles! Jean has a ton of information to share with her readers and to educators, so we spent a lot of time finding ways to make that information all easy to find and accessible while still keeping the site clean and fun to browse.
Christine Hayes

Christine is the Illinois-based author of spooky middle grade novel, Mothman’s Curse, in which a girl in the most haunted town in America must solve a mystery to break a curse. We decided on a chalkboard theme, with lots of distressed, hand-drawn fonts and ornamental doodles. The site looks a little bit dark, a little bit haunted, and a whole lot of awesome . . . just like the stories that Christine likes to tell!
Jennifer Hamburg

This site just barely made it into 2014 . . . we made it live on New Year’s Eve! Jennifer is a children’s television writer (SUPER WHY!, Jack’s Big Music Show, Between the Lions, and more!) and the author of two fantastic children’s books, A Moose That Says Moo and Monkey and Duck Quack Up!. Naturally with that background, we needed to do something whimsical and full of color! I had so much fun putting together this design with bold colors, big stripes, and a combination of swirly and bold typewriter fonts to make it feel like you were looking at a children’s book … about children’s books!
